Stop the 49ers Back Room Deal with the Santa Clara City Council – Sign Our Change.org Petition
The 49ers want to negotiate a legal settlement in a closed session with a City Council that they control. This is wrong.
In the interest of transparency and honesty, we strongly urge the City Council to:
- Have the deal discussed in public, not in a back room.
- Have independent experts evaluate the settlement.
“The public has no reason to trust these numbers, and neither does the council,” said (Dr. Thomas) Shanks, who is working on a study of the ethical aspects of the city’s relations with the team.
